This cheese grater is a whimsical piece of late 20th century design! It seems to be rather rare. One owner
Designed by Philippe Starck for Alessi, made in Italy, purchased in Italy in the early 1990's. The model is called "Mr. Meumeu" after its humorous shape of a bull's head. Originally off white and made of plastic resin. The base is the cheese receptacle with the stainless steel grater fitting on top. One of the "horns" is a serving spoon, the other a handle. The grater fits inside the lid and is held in place with 4 small magnets on the corners so it can be out of the way when in use. Perfect for grating Parmesan, Romano, Grana, or other hard cheeses.
Measures 8 inches total width (at the "horns"), 4 3/4 inches tall, 3 3/8 inches deep.
This was only displayed as a piece of artwork, not used. In complete condition. The resin/plastic base and lid have yellowed due to age. Spoon and grater are flawless. No box. My home is smoke free.
