Amplifier and Hi-Fi Player - With Blue OS

Like the Node, the Bluesound PowerNode allows you to play any digital music you want, including high-res files up to 32-bit/384kHz, to your passive speakers. You can also play audio/music files off of your computer or a networked hard drive. I’m using it to play music off of Tidal’s Hi-Fi plan, but you can use any streaming service you want.

The one difference between the Node and the PowerNode is that it (the PN) adds a 100w x 2 (8 Ohms) amplifier to power your passive speakers. You can use the PowerNode with both Dynaudio speakers or the PSB P3/P5 bookshelf speakers. The only speakers you wouldn’t use this with are the AM3/AM5 because they are self-powered. Also note, this is designed for a simple 2.1-channel audio setup.

I have a hardwired connection in my garage using CAT 6, so that’s the setup I’d suggest doing. The PowerNode also uses dual-band W-Fi to ensure a stable connection to your router and other Bluesound components, which will function just fine.

This thing is truly a Matty favorite. The fit and finish, along with the versatility it offers, make it a worthy purchase. The PowerNode gives you a few different installation options: 1) Freestanding and 2) A custom installation rack. I’d have a freestanding setup where this would live in my locker cabinet. Easy to access but out of the way.

If you decide to go this route, you’ll want to be sure to cut out a small hole in the back of your cabinet to feed your cables/wires through. I’d use something like a cut off tool to do so.

The fluidity of Bluesound allows you to add individual Bluesound players throughout your home, giving you the ability to play the same or different music through different zones (or rooms). We’re using the Node for the sole purpose of the garage, but if you want to take your music beyond this application, you can.
